This year’s forum on “Grid Construction and Grid Operation” (2nd/3rd June) brought its attendees to Germany’s former capital of Bonn, where they had a chance to learn more about ASTROSE at the booth of LTB GmbH.

A live demonstration revealed how the sensor node captures its monitoring data and transmits it wirelessly to its base station, where the data can be visualized on screen. A novel feature at the event was the ability to send the data directly to the mobile phone of the LTB expo team, showing in practice how fault detection and response teams will be able to use the ASTROSE data in the field. For demonstration purposes, the incident was caused by the demo line being tilted manually by a mere 10 degrees.
