Testing in the high voltage laboratory

For the qualification of the new generation of ASTROSE wireless sensors high voltage tests for the 380kV voltage level were carried out. The focus was on the dielectric strength of the entire system and the immunity to interference from partial discharges and transient processes such as lightning strikes or switching surges. The subsequent tests were successfully carried out in a high voltage laboratory under realistic conditions on a replica of a four-bundle conductor:

  • Testing of the voltage band within the operating limits up to 303kV line-to-ground voltage with and without interference (partial discharge source)
  • Lightning surge test negative and positive up to 1700kV
  • Switching surge test negative and positive up to 1050kV with flashover
