High Voltage Tests

On 19 July, a series of tests was conducted with the great support of our partner LTB Leitungsbau GmbH at the high voltage test site of the TU Dresden.

Since 2014,  ASTROSE systems have been installed and working flawlessly  on 110 kV power lines. The system's response in the 220 kV and 380 kV tests was now eagerly awaited. Two nodes were set up for the trials (see image) and formed a wireless chain transmitting data to a base station. The voltage was increased continuously from the low voltage start of the trial. The connection remained absolutely stable, with the system sustaining a constant load with a standing wave of 525 kV. The following lightning strike test simulated multiple 1.3 million Volt peaks in accordance with IEC 60060-1, which the sensor nodes handled without failure.
